Porcelain straight from the manufacturer comes with a transparent protective coating. This must be completely removed before you start decorating with the edding 4200 porcelain brush pen, because the ink needs to bond to the actual porcelain and not go over the protective coating.

First, wash the porcelain in a dishwasher, then wipe over thoroughly with methylated spirit. When washing up by hand, avoid using a washing-up brush.
